Dionne Warwick Comes to Ken-Del
Five time Grammy award winner Dionne Warwick recently came to Ken-Del Studios to work with engineer Paul Janocha on the spoken word project, "Little Man", written by Mrs. Warwick along with Wilmington resident David Freeman Wooley. This is the third literary collaboration between Warwick and Wooley. They had previously collaborated on Mrs. Warwick's autobiography, "My Life, As I See It" as well as the children's book, "Say A Little Prayer".

Jazz Legend Donald Byrd at Ken-Del
Ken-Del Studios is proud to host legendary jazz trumpeter Donald Byrd, who is currently putting the finishing touches on a new live album with engineer Paul Janocha mixing. Also in the works is a career retrospective which will include rare performances from the archives of his fifty plus years in the music business along with commentary from Dr. Byrd himself. In addition, Byrd is in the studio working on an album of brand new material with his band, the Blackbyrds. Playing with the likes of John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock and Thelonious Monk, Donald Byrd's music traversed several musical styles beginning with hard bop and eventually embracing soul-jazz, fusion and West Coast funk. With three Grammy awards and dozens of Billboard Top 100 albums to his credit, he has truly earned the title, living legend.
Kansas violinist David Ragsdale Kansas Violinist Works With Ken-Del Clients
David Ragsdale, violinist for the multi-platinum selling band Kansas, has recently done work for several Ken-Del clients, including Yes Virginia, Mario Padovani, Depace and Mended Vessels. The rhythm tracks were recorded here at Ken-Del and then sent to David's Atlanta studio, where he cut the solos and sent them back to Ken-Del for mixing in ProTools. Aside from his work with Kansas, Ragsdale has also recorded with Queensryche, Smashing Pumpkins, Bohnam and Louise Mandrel, among others.
Tommy Conwell
Tommy Conwell at Ken-Del
Tommy Conwell (of Tommy Conwell and the Young Rumblers fame) was at Ken-Del Studios recently for a pair of projects. Tommy did some slide guitar work for the band Cardinal Suns for their latest independent release, Legacy. Additionally, Tommy was in laying down vocals on the song "Christmas On The Block", which also featured performances by fellow Philadelphia favorites, Eric Bazillian and Rob Hyman of the Hooters.
ex-Allman Brother Johnny Neel Allman Brother Drops By Ken-Del
Grammy award nominated songwriter Johnny Neel stopped by Ken-Del to lend his vocal and keyboard and keyboard talents to a benefit project for Toys for Tots. The project, a twentieth anniversary remake of Band-Aid's "Do They Know It's Christmas", was sponsored by Ken-Del Productions and WSTW.
Also featured on the track were Lauren Hart, Nik Everett, Cliff Hillis and John Faye (from Ike), Matt Sevier, Paul Lewis, Mario Padovani, Rebecca Fishel and Gina Degnars (from Stygian Veil). Neel, a Delaware native, rose to national prominance when he took over the keyboard duties for the Allman Brothers Band. He recieved a Grammy nomination for co-writing their hit "Good Clean Fun".
A Sicilian Tale A Sicilian Tale
The Frank Lisi film, "A Sicilian Tale" (DreamQuest Entertainment) recently had it's premier at the New York City film festival. The soundtrack was recorded here at Ken-Del Studios by composer/arranger Mario Padovani along with engineer Paul Janocha. The picture features South Philly native (and Ken-Del client) Joe Polito along with Vinnie Vella (Casino, Donnie Brasco, The Sopranos), Elaine del Vale (Donnie Brasco, The Sopranos) and Sal Darigo (Analyze This, Twelve Monkeys).
WWE Champion Big Show
WWE Champions Record At Ken-Del
Ken-Del hosted WWE champion wrestlers Big Show and Eddie "Latino Heat" Guerrerro as they recorded their voice overs for the Sony Playstation game "WWE Smackdown! vs. RAW 2006". "The World's Largest Athlete" Big Show is a two time WWE Champion and a two time WCW Champion. Eddie Guerrerro was a former WWE Champion and two time intercontinental Champion.
Krista from Otispunk Local All-Stars Come Together For Toys For Tots
A who's who of the Delaware Valley music scene once again converged on Ken-Del productions to record a benefit CD for the Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Foundation. Participating on the lead vocal chores were Omnisoul's Derek Fuhrmann, John Faye and Cliff Hillis from Ike, Gypsy Sullivan frontman Frank Margerum, Harry Francis from Mr. Greengenes, the Snap's Ben LeRoy, Mercy River vocalist Mike Vesper, Gina Degnars and Rebecca Fishel from Stygian Veil, SoulOh frontman Brad McClain, Melissa Cox from Mythica, Otispunk's Krista Jasillo, Laura Cheadle, Paul Lewis, Steve Ketterer and Mario Padovani.
